About Health Caring Services

Health Caring Services (HCS)

Health Caring Services (HCS) is an American 501(c)3 that provides administrative and logistical support for Hospital Socorro de lo Alto, in Sula, Honduras.

HCS works with the team leaders and team members of the North American teams, providing administrative support to ensure that all required medical education and licensure documentation are properly submitted to the Honduras College of Medicine by the required deadline. Whether you have a medical or non-medical background, you can serve. We believe in leading by Christ’s example. Visit our Teams page to learn more about how to become involved.

In addition, HCS works with those who have equipment and supplies to donate. The Hospital is supplied 80% with donated supplies. Supplies from American hospital operating rooms and equipment that is being updated in hospitals and clinics are collected, transported to our collection location, sorted and inventoried and boxed, packed into a shipping container and shipped to Honduras on an empty container boat returning to Honduras. Once it arrives in the Puerto Cortez, Honduras and passes through customs, the containers are driven the 100 miles to the Hospital by an 18 wheeler truck. It costs approximately $6000.00 to ship these donated supplies to the Hospital. If you have supplies or equipment that you are interested in donating, please contact us through the Contact Us page.

HCS also facilitates the process of those who wish to donate financially to the hospital. There is no parent organization that supports the Hospital and, therefore, it relies on donations.  All team members pay their own transportation costs and team fees. Hospital improvements are only made as funds are donated. If you are interested in making a tax deductible financial donation, see our Donate page.

Health Caring Services is committed to putting Faith into action, constantly implementing new ministries and programs to help the hospital run as professionally and smoothly as possible.
